Internet Scams Internet scams have become very prevalent in recent years, turning the internet experience into a nightmare for thousands of people around the world. Scammers emanate from all over the world but the main scammer beds of the earth are in West Africa. The more sophisticated types of "physhing" scams and fake bank scams tend to come from the Eastern Block though these sorts of scams are now coming from Asia, West Africa and South Africa. The Love scam or sweetheart scam has become a major menace in the past couple of years, most dating sites on the net have scammers on them, some are riddled, these scammers are now very active on sites like MySpace, Bebo and Yahoo 360. Some sites are taking the scourge seriously and actively removing and blocking scammers, but sadly most of these sites do very little at all. The greed for traffic seems to rule and the security of law abiding members is ignored. Unfortunately the internet causes all sorts of jurisdictional problems with law enforcement, and if an American or British citizen sends money to a scammer in Nigeria there is no chance of getting your money back and almost no chance that the scammer will be arrested. There is no co-operation between the Nigerian police and any western police force, and the police forces in most of West Africa are extremely corrupt.
